Review: Physician's Formula pH Matchmaker blush

I'd like to start this post off by saying that I feel like companies who claim to have products that customize themselves to your specific skintone is just a marketing ploy. I've never bought into any of it and quite frankly never cared to test them out. So why did I get this one you ask? Simple, I liked the color of the blush and it was on sale at my local Shoppers with a $9 mail in rebate - so I bought it. No. Other. Reason. However, not that I do own a "matchmaker" blush, might as well see if it works right?

Here is what the Physician's Formula website has to say about this stuff:

Pretty wild claims, huh? I'm not quite sure if the "technology" actually makes the blush adapt to different skin tones, but I did notice that mine definitely got peachier once applied to my skin. From what I've seen in other reviews and pictures, it did get rosier on some an peachier on others. My skin tone is warm, so it does make sense that the peachier undertones be more pronounced.
Left: Swatched heavily with my finger. Right: Applied and blended with a brush.
The color is gorgeous. I would describe it as a matte watermelon pink - perfect for summer! The blush does have a shimmery overspray but once you've gone through that first layer, the blush is matte. I could see this blush looking fab paired with VG Nicki lipstick for a bright and fresh summer look. I was initially weary of purchasing it because I already own the Happy Booster blush in Natural but after a quick comparison (picture below), both blushes are nothing alike. The consistency of the blush is well... powdery. It can get a little messy once you put your brush into it but it doesn't look powdery once applied to the face (thank goodness!). One of the things I enjoy the most about this blush is just how pigmented it is. With one light tap, I can get perfectly rosey cheeks. The wear is average, I didn't notice it disappearing in less than an hour but at the end of the day, the blush definitely isn't as noticeable which is fine with me.

I find the compact rather large and it will deter me from bringing it with me on vacation. I personally find that Physician's Formula packaging isn't all that travel friendly and rather large and bulky. I would love to see a sleeker compact in the future. Yes, there is an "LED" light. Will I ever turn it on? Probably not. There also is a bottom compartment under the blush with a little brush that I quite frankly haven't and most likely will never use.

Here is a picture of yours truly wearing it on my cheeks and another picture of my blowdry (I am so proud of how it came out haha):

All in all, I would recommend you check this blush out because like most Physician's Formula products, you get great quality without shelling out big money... especially if you manage to get that rebate! Have you tried the blush yet? Has it changed based on your coloring? How do you like it? Make sure to comment below!
