Review: THE Beauty Blender

Hello hello! Long time no post! I've just been SO busy the last few months with trying to getting a few wedding things figured out, watching the Euro Cup and enjoying the lovely summer weather we've been having. Can you believe we're already nearing mid-July? It's crazy how quickly time passes.

Today I decided to kick off my posting with a review of my new favorite tool to apply most liquid foundations - the Beauty Blender! This bright pink little egg shaped sponge doesn't come cheap. It cost me $26 at Sephora and it wasn't the kit with the cleaner or anything. There are some "dupes" out there for much cheaper but I much like anything else in life, I always prefer to go for the "real deal" so I decided to suck it up and try it out for myself since I had seen so many glowing reviews in the past. After trying it out with my L'Oreal True Match, MAC Face and Body, LM Silk Cream, as well as my MUFE HD foundations, I am sold. I would gladly shell out another $26 for this baby if I ever had to.
In my experience, the sponge works better when wet and with liquid or cream foundations - forget anything with a mousse consistency for this one. I would stick to liquid foundations because I feel like it provides the nicest effect (and they're easier to work with!). Creamy foundations such as Laura Mercier Silk Cream foundation works as well but you have to move quickly because it has a tendency to settle quickly for some reason. When you wet it, the egg (or Mr. Eggie as my fiancĂ©'s little sister calls it) expands and softens up a bit which makes application smooth, quick and extremely easy. I like to dot the foundation on my face with my fingers and then pounce (or bounce) the widest part of the sponge all over to blend everything in. I find you get a nice even coverage without piling the makeup on or feeling heavy. I use the pointy part to get into smaller areas such as around my nostrils and to blend in my under eye concealer.

I was somewhat bummed that Sephora doesn't offer the cleanser (at least mine doesn't anyway) but after a little research online, I found out that using my regular face wash does the trick and probably makes my little sponge smell better too. I don't wear liquid foundation often so I do wash my sponge after every use by just adding a drop of cleanser and rubbing it in my palm under hot water until it squeezes out clean. I let mine dry over night and it's usually dry and ready to be used the next day. I've used it and washed it around 5 times so far and I don't see any wear and tear so far which is nice.
All in all this beauty tool allows me to have flawless looking skin in just a matter of a few seconds. It is seriously amazing for daily use since it doesn't require much time to apply yet you still get a flawless outcome. If you apply foundation regularly or even just on special occasions, I strongly suggest you check the Beauty Blender out, it eliminates any guesswork. I promise you'll love it!

**I will definitely be posting a few FOTDs soon, and will make sure to mention when I used this baby. You'll see just how great it makes your skin look!
